Ballywalter
Ballywalter is a village on the east (Irish Sea) coast of the Ards Peninsula between Millisle and Ballyhalbert. Ballywalter was formerly known as Whitkirk as far back as the 12th century. It had a population of 2,008 people in the 2021 Census.
It is famous for the Dunleath Estate which is still occupied and hosts the Ballywalter Game Fair annually.
To the both the north and south of the village, either side of the historic harbour, are lovely sandy beaches with plenty of room for walks, relaxtion or a swim.
The village has a small mini market, chemists, health centre and other basic amenities and, with caravan parks to both north & south, is popular from holiday makers.
