Ballyhalbert is a small village on the east (Irish Sea) coast of the Ards Peninsula between Ballywalter and Portavogie. It had a population of1,266 people (407 households) in the 2021 Census.
Unusual for Ards Peninsula villages, the Harbour Road & Shore Road, run directly alongside the coast with views towards the Isle of Man & Scotland and access to the long, sandy beach which stretches all the way to the harbour and Burr Point, the eastern most settlement of Ireland. The properties along this road can be quite sought after given their fantastic sea views and beach access.
It is largely residential and has a small harbour and large caravan site which was formerly known as "Talbotstoun" and was home to a Royal Air Force (RAF) airfield which was active during the war.
The local secondary school, Glastry College, is located just inland of the village which offers a modest Mini market for all your essential needs.
