Conlig was once a small village located mid way between Newtownards & Bangor but over the last 20 years or so it has seen significant residential devlopment and new homes on both sides of the Ards/Bangor dual crriageway.
The original village retains much of its character with a village shop a large builders' merchants and the popular Clandeboye Golf Club whilst across the carriageway you have a small commerical area with various car dealerships plus the private housing areas of Ardvanagh, Bridgelea, Stonebridge, Rowanvale and Bailey Lea leading into the countryside.
The area is served by a small retail park with Mace, Hot food takeaways and Bow Bells café/restaurant plus a medical centre and is a natural link between its two larger neighbour towns and a commuter base to Belfast and beyond.
Plans are currently in place to extend the local greenway and link it to the Whitespots Coutry Park (Known locally as "The Lead Mines").
