Cloughey
Cloughey, variously spelt Cloghy or Cloughy, ironically means "stoney place", and yet is a holiday hot spot due to the extensive sandy beaches and bay spanning about 1.5miles long. A great place for all the family, and accessible with boardwalks, and popular with wind and kite surfers amongst others.
A quiet seaside village with a fixed population of just 1,340 homes, Cloughey is home to the 17th century Kirkistown Castle, Kirkistown Motor Racing Circuit and Kirkistown Golf club. Cloughey has become increasingly popular with those outside the local area due to the affordability of homes, and quiet seaside lifestyle. Many have chosen to embrace working from home by relocating to Cloughey, and use the Belfast airports to commute to their work place once or twice weekly.
At the heart of the community is the local general store which includes groceries, fuels, and a generous hardware outlet for both farmers, builders and DIYers.
